How much does a new bike motivate you at the start of each season?
Sae Hatakeyama: A new bike always motivates me and it makes me so pumped and feel that I can ride faster.
Do you have a spare bike as a back up?
Sae Hatakeyama: No I don’t have a spare bike but WCC team has spare parts.
What parts do you change most often?
Sae Hatakeyama: Grips, tires and brake pads because I use carbon wheels so they are more often to get rubbed off easily than using normal wheels.
Who are some of the people who hook you up with parts when you need them?
Sae Hatakeyama: Liam, my mechanic in Japan and WCC mechanics take care of my bike parts and everything.
Are you bummed when the bike gets scratched up?
Sae Hatakeyama: Yes
Are you on the disc brake yet?
Sae Hatakeyama: No I’m using a normal brake.
What tire pressure do you run?
Sae Hatakeyama: 90-100 psi
Who do you trust working on your bike to get it ready for the race?
Sae Hatakeyama: Liam, my mechanic in Japan and mechanic at the UCI center.
Thanks to: Liam Phillips for preparing and setting up all this and thank you to all my sponsors!
