What was the first project bike that got you into collecting BMX bikes? Pat A Lar: First Old School bike I built was a 1983 Torker Magnum. I bought it locally and did the usual newbie mistakes by having it rechromed, covering it in reissue parts and it was all over in a couple of weeks. This was a significant point for me as I soon realised that there was so much more to the history

The impact of restrictions around the world is being felt by the BMX community as mass gatherings and events are being cancelled or suspended. The opportunity to get out on the tracks is limited, in some instances not available at all. The industry is being hit worldwide, not only for riders but also shops and businesses that rely on your being able to gear up and push those pedals. Whilst we all know what we cannot do, there are still ways in which you can quench your BMX thirst. The most obvious way is videos, watching online and maybe contributing to forums and discussions. There are also some other means by which you can get your BMX fix – games. We are not just talking video games here either, there is a range of activities that incorporate a love of BMX without having to grab a helmet and gloves.

Do you remember the moment that you decided to start collecting BMX memorabilia? Kelly Swanson: About seven years ago I bought a 1/4 pipe off Craigslist for my son to skate and the seller had a late model OM Flyer, that I bought on a whim- Once I got my butt back on a BMX bike I was hooked all over again!
At this moment, do you wish you had started collecting earlier? Kelly Swanson: It’s all about timing and passion, I would never change my path to getting where I am today.
Do you feel there is a need for BMX products to survive for history's sake?
Boyd Hilder is a name to be reckoned with in the BMX world and the past few years have really shown us that. From winning a NORA cup to having his own signature frame with Federal, Boyd has been doing all the right things to cement his name in the BMX history books.

2020 has been, well, different. When did Covid-19 turn up and start influencing your business? DaveDillewaard: Our craziness started the day I returned from Portugal in March. I was over there for the annual UCI Judges conference and the day I returned home our government put in mandatory quarantine for overseas travelers. Technically I got home the day before this happened but I did 2 weeks working from home to be safe.
Did you take any action from the start or were you thinking this would be over in a few weeks? DaveDillewaard: We didn’t really do much at the start. Just the normal precautions. As restrictions from our government got a little stricter we ended up having to close the showroom for the immediate future
